Eco-Schools is a worldwide initiative for sustainable change of the schools. Over 51.000 school in 64 countries around the world are participating and it is recognised by the United Nations. Based on the principle of 'student-led change', the students take responsiblity to create a sustainable school.
In the Netherlands, over 120 schools (primary, secondary and vocational) are running the Eco-Schools programme. In each country one organisation is resposnible for the implementation. In the Netherlands SME Advies, a social enterprise, is responsible for the Eco-Schols programme.
