PRIVACY POLICY SDG GATEWAY

Dear community member,

Thank you for looking into our private policy. Your privacy is important to us and we will do everything we can to keep your private information, exactly that, private.

This overview explains what we do with your information, why we do it, and how we protect it.

Most importantly, we want to reassure you that we will only use your personal information for the purposes of giving you a better user experience. Also, be assured that we will continue to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation ((EU) 2016/679) (“GDPR”) from May 25th 2018 onwards.

What Information Do We Hold & Why? How Can You Adjust Your Settings?

What information do we hold and how are we using it? As you know, the Gateway is above anything else a collection of impact profiles that allow our community members to learn about each other’s work, attract the resources that they need, and connect with one another. In line with our approach, we therefore collect and process the following profile details about you and your activities:

  • Your name and/or organisational name – so that we can talk to you as you wish to spoken to, and so that other users can see who you are, and/or what the name of your organisation is;
  • Individual and organizational details – so that the community can get to know you and connect where this is worthwhile to do so. You can of course choose which information you wish to provide, either upon joining or at any point in time as your details change or if your appetite to share information changes. All you need to do is to log into your profile and update your profile fields;
  • Similar to your organizational details, you can add initiatives, events, and documents such as reports and files so that visitors to the SDG Gateway get greater insight to your work, SDG contributions, and support needs;
  • Your email and password - This information allows us to recognize you when you sign in. You can choose to share or disguise your email information to other community members. Your password is encrypted and securely saved.

Importantly, and as was eluded above, you are in control of how much of your profile is visible to other users, and with whom you want to share your basic profile information and uploaded content. When adding different types of content to the SDG Gateway, such as an event or a report, you can choose whether you want to make it visible for the community (only logged-in users), or publicly available (visible for everyone on the website). You can change this setting at any time. It looks like this:

Separately, if you no longer want to be part of our online SDG community, you can delete your account and unpublish or anonymize your data at any time. Go to your account settings to do so, and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have trouble doing so.

In addition to the above, we may collect the following information from you when you visit our website using cookies: Information about your visit, including the full Uniform Resource Locators (URL), clickstream to, through and from the Website (including date and time), keywords you searched for, page response times, website errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information, methods used to browse away from the page. These cookies help us to learn how you use our site, which helps us to continually improve our site and make it even more user friendly.

When Will We Contact You & How Can You Manage Your Settings?

By creating an account on the SDG Gateway, you are also giving us permission to include you in our newsletters, email updates, and notifications. Emails include our bi-weekly community updates and occasional direct emails. Our outreach may include updates about new members that have joined the Gateway, new features, and/or new invitations to collaborate with the community. We are highly committed to only sending you content that is relevant for you, and appreciate your feedback or suggestions at any time.

Emails should offer you a great insight of what our SDG community has to offer, yet if you no longer wish to be contacted by us, you can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the link at the bottom of our email updates, or by changing your account settings. In addition to our email updates, the SDG Gateway automatically sends you notifications when there is certain activity on your account. You can choose the types of notifications you would like to receive, including when and how you are receiving them, by going to ‘’settings’’ on the top-right of your screen.

Sharing with Third Parties

We never give your personal details to anybody else. The only time we would ever do this would be under exceptional circumstances - if we’re legally obliged to, for example, or if we believe that it’s imperative to do so to protect our legal rights. We never post anything to your accounts with Facebook, Twitter, or any other third-party sites without your permission.
